How Ticketize protects personal information

25 Oct 2024 - Ticketize Team

As technology evolves, protecting personal information is vital for all organisations that manage any personal data. General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) provides the framework for the responsible handling of your data. Here we explore the importance of GDPR and outline how Ticketize safeguards your information, promoting transparency and security.

Understanding GDPR and its importance

General Data Protection Regulations, or GDPR, are laws that protect personal information. This includes things like your name, email address, and any other details that can identify you. GDPR is designed to ensure that organisations handle personal data responsibly. It gives you the right to know how your information is collected and used, helping you feel more secure when sharing your details.

If organisations don’t follow these rules, they can face big fines from the Information Commissioner’s Office, which is responsible for enforcing data protection laws. These fines can be quite hefty and remind companies how important it is to protect your privacy. Adhering to GDPR isn’t just about avoiding penalties, it’s also about building trust with customers.

How Ticketize keeps your data safe

All organisations that sell tickets through Ticketize have control over their ticket buyer information. This makes them “Data Controllers” under the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR). In simple terms, this means organisations are responsible for collecting, using, and protecting ticket buyers’ personal information.

When event organisers decide to work with Ticketize, they agree to let Ticketize manage important event details, including the contact information of ticket buyers. This means Ticketize acts as a “Data Processor.”

Ticketize is registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (registration number ZB659322).

To ensure your information is safe Ticketize will:

- Delete ticket buyer data - 30 days after the event ends. This helps prevent any unauthorised access to ticket buyer information.

- Enable organisation Privacy Policies - organisations using Ticketize can create their own Privacy Policy and include the policy within the event terms and conditions - see the Terms and conditions help page for more information about adding terms and conditions for your event.

- Promise not to contact attendees - we firmly believe that ticket buyer data belongs to the organisation setting up the event, not to Ticketize. We will not advertise to ticket buyers or contact them directly, other than sending the event ticket.

These practices are designed to build trust between the organisers and people attending events, making sure everyone feels comfortable sharing their information.
